Artificial Intelligence is not only redefining industries but also reshaping what it means to build a tech career. Especially for Africa’s youth. This talk explores how AI is creating new opportunities in data science, machine learning, and ethical tech, even for those from non-traditional paths. Drawing from my experience mentoring young talent and leading community-building efforts through PyCon Africa, AWiMLDS, university tech events, and open-source contributions, I’ll highlight how accessible AI education, fellowships, and collaborative ecosystems are helping bridge the gap between curiosity and opportunity. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies for nurturing inclusive AI communities, designing youth-focused initiatives, and building a future where African youth are not just participants, but innovators.
