Developers can now connect their Claude accounts directly to Xcode 26, Apple’s integrated development environment (IDE) for building apps across Apple platforms. This integration brings Claude Sonnet 4 into the Xcode workflow, enabling coding intelligence features designed to support app development, testing, and distribution.

Using Claude in Xcode

By logging into their Claude account within Xcode, developers gain access to a range of features powered by Claude Sonnet 4:

  1. Coding Assistant: Interact with code using natural language. Claude can automatically gather project context, maintain conversation history, and handle file attachments to support debugging, refactoring, and feature building.
  2. Coding Tools: Generate documentation, request explanations of highlighted sections, create SwiftUI previews and playgrounds, and make inline code edits directly in the editor.

Claude subscription usage limits are shared across platforms, with a portion available for Xcode users.

Getting Started

To use Claude in Xcode 26:

1. Download Xcode 26 from the Mac App Store.

2. Open Xcode preferences and navigate to the Intelligence settings.

3. Log in with your Claude account.

Claude in Xcode is supported on Pro and Max plans, as well as premium seats for Team and Enterprise plans that include Claude Code.

For additional details, Apple has published the full Xcode 26 release notes and documentation on writing code with intelligence in Xcode.
