Exa Research recently announced the launch of /research, a new agentic search tool designed to persistently seek out information across the web until it delivers the results users need. This tool is tailored for automating web research, especially for tasks that involve multiple searches and require structured, actionable insights. It is an agentic search tool that doesn't stop until it finds what you need

Performance and Capabilities

The professional version of the research endpoint, exa-research-pro, achieves a 94.9% accuracy rate on SimpleQA, a benchmark for question-answering tasks. The endpoint is optimized for structured outputs, parallelizing research tasks across various fields to reduce latency. This focus ensures responses are consistent and easily integrated into downstream applications, making it a practical choice for developers and researchers.

Pricing Structure

Exa Research offers two tiers:

  1. exa-research: A cost-effective option that adjusts the model and number of webpages read based on task complexity. It is priced at $5 per 1,000 searches and $5 per 1,000 webpages read.
  2. exa-research-pro: This tier employs more advanced models for higher quality results, priced at $5 per 1,000 agent searches and $10 per 1,000 webpages read.

Additionally, reasoning models are utilized for research planning in both tiers, with usage billed at $5 per 1 million reasoning tokens.

Integration and Accessibility

The research tool is designed for ease of use, offering compatibility with OpenAI standards and an asynchronous-first endpoint. Users can explore its features directly through the Exa Research dashboard, providing a straightforward way to test and provide feedback on the service.

Exa Research’s new /research endpoint offers a practical solution for automated web research, with a focus on structured outputs and flexible pricing. The tool is now available for users to try, and Exa Research welcomes feedback to further refine the experience.
