If you’ve ever wished your words could paint a moving picture, Microsoft’s latest feature might just pique your curiosity. The team behind Bing has launched Bing Video Creator, a new tool that lets users turn simple text prompts into five-second videos for free.

First introduced through the Bing Mobile App, and soon coming to desktop and Copilot Search, this new addition builds on Microsoft’s growing suite of generative tools. Where Bing Image Creator once translated words into visuals, Bing Video Creator adds motion, action, and atmosphere.

What It Does

Type in a detailed description for example “a golden retriever surfing on a beach at sunset with slow-motion waves” and the platform works behind the scenes using OpenAI’s Sora model to produce a short animated clip. While the videos are brief and stylized, they offer a creative glimpse into what’s possible with text-to-video AI.

You can generate up to three videos at once and receive notifications when they’re ready. Videos are downloadable, shareable, and stored for up to 90 days. Users can also choose between two generation speeds: a “Fast” mode that kicks off with 10 free tokens, and a “Standard” option that’s always available. Additional Fast generations can be unlocked with Microsoft Rewards points.

Bing Video Creator is built with a simple premise: giving people regardless of skill or software an easy way to create short videos using only their imagination and a few lines of text. Whether it’s for storytelling, humor, quick explanations, or just experimenting with visual ideas, the tool lowers the barrier for video creation.

It also supports a more expressive style of communication online. A custom video can turn a message or idea into something more memorable, engaging, and personal. Whether you’re sending a birthday greeting or adding a creative twist to a social media post, this tool offers a quick and intuitive way to get there.

Built-In Safeguards

As with other AI features from Microsoft, Bing Video Creator includes content moderation and safety controls. Prompts flagged as unsafe or likely to generate harmful content are blocked, and videos carry digital credentials to indicate they were AI-generated, using the C2PA standard for provenance.

To get started, download the Bing Mobile App, tap the menu in the bottom-right corner, and select “Video Creator.” You can also trigger the tool by typing “Create a video of…” into the Bing search bar. Desktop access via Bing.com/create is on the way.

Bing Video Creator doesn’t aim to replace professional video tools but it’s a handy starting point for anyone looking to bring an idea to life quickly, without needing production experience. It’s a playful reminder that creativity isn’t just about having the right tools it’s about having access to them.
