Lenovo has unveiled the Yoga Solar PC concept at the Mobile World Congress 2025, showcasing a laptop that harnesses sunlight to power its operations. This innovative device integrates solar panels into its lid, making it one of the first ultraslim solar-powered PCs, as defined by Lenovo, measuring just 15mm thin and weighing 1.22kg.

Harnessing Solar Energy Efficiently

The Yoga Solar PC features a solar panel with back-contact cells, designed to maximize light capture and achieve a conversion rate of over 24%, one of the highest in the industry. This efficiency is further enhanced by Lenovo’s Dynamic Solar Tracking system, which optimizes energy capture by adjusting to light conditions in real time.

Under optimal sunlight conditions, the laptop can generate enough power in 20 minutes to provide up to an hour of video playback. However, actual energy conversion may vary depending on factors such as sunlight intensity, angle, weather conditions, and geographic location.

Additionally, while the Yoga Solar PC can sustain its battery charge in low-light conditions, Lenovo clarifies that this does not equate to active recharging under indoor lighting. Instead, the panel slows battery drain when the laptop is idle, making it useful in various environments.

Performance and Design

This eco-friendly laptop is built for both sustainability and performance. It’s powered by an Intel Lunar Lake processor, paired with up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, ensuring it can handle demanding tasks with ease.

The 14-inch OLED display delivers vibrant visuals, making it ideal for both work and entertainment. Wrapped in a sleek Cosmic Blue chassis, the laptop not only looks modern but also aligns with Lenovo’s vision of blending high performance with renewable energy innovations.

Beyond the Concept: Lenovo’s External Solar Power Kit

The company has also introduced a Solar Power Kit for Yoga, a proof of concept that extends solar-powered charging to existing products. This foldable, detachable USB-C solar panel can be attached to a bag, backpack, tent, or tree, allowing users to charge devices on the go.

The kit leverages Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) technology to maximize solar energy conversion.
