Meta has introduced Aria Gen 2 glasses, the next generation of its Project Aria initiative. Designed to empower researchers across industry and academia, these glasses aim to unlock new work in machine perception, egocentric and contextual AI, robotics, and more.

Key Features of Aria Gen 2:

  1. Advanced Sensor Suite: Equipped with an RGB camera, 6DOF SLAM cameras, eye tracking cameras, spatial microphones, IMUs, barometer, magnetometer, and GNSS, along with a new PPG sensor (for heart rate monitoring) and a contact microphone.
  2. On-Device Processing: Utilizes Meta’s custom silicon for ultra low-power machine perception tasks including SLAM, eye tracking, hand tracking, and speech recognition—all processed directly on the device.
  3. Extended Operation: Capable of six to eight hours of continuous use, supporting prolonged research sessions.
  4. Audio Integration: Features open-ear force-canceling speakers that enable user-in-the-loop system prototyping.

Meta is excited to see how researchers both within and beyond the company will leverage Aria Gen 2 to drive innovations that shape the future of computing.
