Honor is taking a significant leap beyond smartphones. The Chinese tech company announced it will unveil its first humanoid service robot during its launch event at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on Sunday, March 1.

The robot will be displayed alongside the first working prototype of its Robot Phone—first teased in October—as well as new phones and tablets. The announcement positions Honor as one of the first phone-makers to enter the robotics space, potentially giving it early-mover advantage in a rapidly expanding market.

The Robot Boom

The worldwide market for humanoid robots is experiencing explosive growth. According to IDC, revenue surged 508% year-over-year in 2025, driven by rapid advances in AI. Chinese companies are leading the race, with firms like Agibot and Unitree already shipping units while US competitors trail behind.

Most humanoids currently target industrial or service settings, with few ready for home deployment. Honor's robot, described in an AI-generated video as a humanoid with glowing neon blue lights interacting with its Robot Phone, appears aimed at service applications—though details remain limited.

The AI Investment Context

Last year at MWC, Honor announced a $10 billion investment into AI, promising a range of AI-powered devices. The robot launch represents the most ambitious execution of that strategy to date, moving beyond AI-enhanced phones into physical AI systems.

What to Expect

It remains unclear how far along Honor is in development. The company could showcase a full working prototype on stage or present another conceptual video. Either way, the move signals that the boundaries between phone-makers and robotics companies are blurring—and Honor intends to be on the front lines.
