PlayAI and Groq Partner to Deliver Faster, More Natural Voice AI.
PlayAI has announced a new collaboration with Groq to deploy Dialog its AI voice model on GroqCloud, a move aimed at improving the speed and responsiveness of conversational AI without sacrificing quality. The integration pairs PlayAI’s context-aware text-to-speech (TTS) technology with Groq’s low-latency AI inference hardware, enabling developers to build voice applications that sound more natural and respond in near real-time.
Dialog has already set new standards for natural-sounding AI speech, outperforming competitive models by 3:1 in blind testing. According to the companies, it can generate audio at 215 characters per second, nearly three times faster than the same model on standard GPU infrastructure. Time to First Audio is reported as low as 200 milliseconds, an important metric for ensuring seamless voice interaction in customer service, content creation, dubbing, and real-time agent use cases.
One key feature that sets Dialog apart is its ability to maintain context throughout a conversation. Unlike traditional TTS systems that treat each line of text independently, Dialog accounts for the full conversational history. This allows it to produce speech with appropriate pacing, emotional inflection, and responsiveness. It’s also trained on millions of conversations across more than 30 languages, giving it the range and nuance needed for various use cases—from casual dialogue to formal narration.
The partnership is also notable for its regional language support. Alongside English, Dialog now includes an Arabic generative voice model that captures the nuances of Saudi Arabian Arabic positioning PlayAI to better serve the Middle East market.
Groq’s AI infrastructure is designed for performance and scalability, offering high-speed inference and consistent quality at a competitive cost. Developers can access the service via the GroqCloud Developer Console or API, with pricing set at $50 per million characters.
The integration supports immediate deployment, and the companies are encouraging developers to explore the new Dialog Turbo endpoint for enhanced performance. Additional language support is also in the pipeline.
This partnership focuses on practicality delivering speed, scale, and natural voice output in a way that helps teams build voice-driven applications that feel responsive and intuitive. With both companies continuing to invest in voice AI, the collaboration lays the foundation for more efficient and expressive speech experiences across industries.
Access and Pricing
Dialog on GroqCloud is now available for both English and Arabic, with more languages expected soon. Developers can get started via API or the GroqCloud Developer Console.
