Replit has launched a new feature, Mobile Apps on Replit, designed to let users create and publish mobile applications through natural language descriptions, bypassing traditional native development setups.

The company states the tool aims to make mobile app development accessible without requiring expertise in specialized languages like Swift or Kotlin, or managing complex code environments and publishing certificates. The process is conversational: users describe the app they want, and the Replit Agent generates it in real time.

How It Works

According to the announcement, the workflow involves:

1. Describing an app idea in natural language.

2. Watching a live preview of the generated app.

3. Testing it on a physical device by scanning a QR code with the Expo Go app.

4. Publishing to an app store after setting up a developer account.

Replit emphasizes that the apps are full-stack and can include backend logic, built-in databases for storing data, and connectors for services like payments or SMS. This differentiates it from tools that only create static front-end interfaces.

The feature is available to all Replit users on both desktop and mobile. It represents the latest expansion of the company’s AI-assisted development environment.
