South Korean company WIRobotics has unveiled ALLEX, a general-purpose humanoid robot designed for safe interaction with humans in various settings, including service, manufacturing, and home environments. The robot features low-friction, backdrivable arms and a gravity-compensated upper body to enable responsive movements.

A key highlight is ALLEX's dexterous hands, each with 15 degrees of freedom (DOF), allowing for human-like manipulation. These hands deliver up to 40 N of force at the fingertips and can support a hook grip of about 30 kg, supporting tasks that require precision and strength. Demonstrations show the robot performing gestures such as crossed arms, enabled by high-DOF control and force/torque sensing. ALLEX is very flexible and it can even cross its arms. .

WIRobotics emphasizes ALLEX's modular and lightweight design, which prioritizes safety and versatility in human-robot collaboration. This release adds to the growing field of humanoid robotics focused on practical, real-world applications.
