Drone delivery company Wing and retail giant Walmart have announced a significant expansion of their partnership, planning to scale their residential drone delivery service to 150 new Walmart stores across the United States over the next year.
The expansion aims to extend the "ultra-fast" delivery service to more than 40 million additional Americans. This move builds on existing operations in the Dallas-Fort Worth and Atlanta metro areas, with the goal of establishing a network of over 270 drone delivery locations by 2027, spanning from Los Angeles to Miami.
New Markets and Accelerated Growth
The companies identified several major metropolitan areas set to receive the service, including Los Angeles, St. Louis, Cincinnati, and Miami. This follows a previously announced expansion into Houston, Orlando, Tampa, and Charlotte, with service in Houston scheduled to begin on January 15, 2026.
In a statement, Greg Cathey, Senior Vice President of Digital Fulfillment Transformation at Walmart, highlighted the service's role in meeting last-minute customer needs. Wing CEO Adam Woodworth emphasized the technology's focus on delivering everyday items quickly and reliably.
Established Service and Adoption
The announcement cited strong growth in their existing markets, noting that delivery volume grew threefold in the second half of 2025 and that the top 25% of their customers ordered via drone an average of three times per week.
Residents can check availability for their address and join a waitlist via Wing's website or mobile app. The expansion represents one of the largest scaled deployments of drone delivery for retail to date.
